2 ESE New Market - 4 ENE New Market A small satellite tornado developed to the south of the New Market Tornado, with damage first noted along Hurricane Rd. at 4:03 PM. At this point, trunks of large hardwood trees were partially snapped. The satellite tornado then traveled cyclonically within the circulation of the New Market Tornado, crossing the southern end of Backbone Mountain. Shortly before the satellite tornado merged with the New Market Tornado, it produced sporadic hard and soft wood tree damage along Upper Hurricane Road.
