4 SW Thomasville - 3.5 SW Thomasville The tornado touched down on the west side of Sandflat Road and just west of John Rivers Lane. A home suffered significant roof damage just after the tornado developed. The tornado continued north and caused significant roof damage to a home on Gaddy Lane. There was evidence of at least two distinct mesovortices embedded within the larger tornado circulation. There was also extensive tree damage in this area with the trunks of some hardwood trees snapped. The tornado continued north and lifted north of State Highway 154. The tornado continued north and caused significant roof damage to a home on Gabby Lane. There was evidence of at least two distinct mesovortices embedded within the larger tornado circulation. The was also extensive tree damage in this area with the trunks of some hardwood trees snapped. The tornado continued north and lifted north of State Highway 154.
A warm front moved inland through the afternoon and brought a very warm, moist and unstable air mass to portions of the area. Showers and thunderstorms began developing ahead of the front over the marine area. As these showers and thunderstorms moved northward, the interacted with the warm front and produced four tornadoes that caused damage in southwest Alabama. While Tropical Storm Olga was forming across the west central Gulf of Mexico during the same time, these storms were not directly associated with that system.
